This prototype should only take a few minutes to complete and your feedback will help me on my next project!

What?

This is a prototype to test out stealth ideas and mechanics

Why?

I am considering using stealth elements in my next game. This prototype is to get feedback to help determine which ones would be good to incorporate.

Mechanics

Spoiler Alert! Here are some of the things you will see. I thought I'd list them out in case people want to reference them in the comments.

1) Duck

Ducking allows you to hide behind low cover. You cannot move while ducking though.

2) Roll

Roll allows you to move while hiding behind low cover

3) Mop

Mopping allows you to blend in without suspicion. You cannot move while mopping.

4) Distractions

Various distractions are built into the environment. Find objects to interact with that may lure workers out of position.

Feedback

I read every comment so please leave your thoughts. This will help me, a solo part-time game dev, in my game dev journey. I think all my ideas are brilliant but its not until I get people to try them that I know, in reality, if they are a bagel or a toaster.

  • Not sure what to write in your comment? Here are some thought starters:
  • What was your favorite part? Least favorite?
  • Were there any parts you got stuck on? Or did you breeze right through it without getting caught?
  • Were there any parts that confused you? It helps to know what parts are intuitive and what things I need to do a better job guiding the player
  • Did this make you want to play more? If so, would you want something similar but more of a challenge? Or looking to dive deeper into more of the story behind this character and have other (non-stealth) gameplay elements?

About

If this is your first Lou Bagel experience, a bit about me:

In a way I'm your typical part-time, solo, indie game dev. I have a day job so do this on the side, whenever I can fit it in, but also have long game dev droughts (ya know, life - especially lately). Despite my best intentions to be more disciplined, I bounce around between different projects where my motivation takes me. I have release one game, Dave-Man, as that "I just want to release something" kind of game. I have yet to really start on my "Dream Game" as every indie dev dreams of. This is the art and style of that dream game I'm hoping to start working on but I am focused on releasing smaller games and prototypes with art and style to get feedback and get better. That feedback and any kind of attention is really what fuels that motivation - as that's all we usually want: people to enjoy our games!

This was fun, I liked figuring out their social interactions (who is responsible for what). It'd be fun seeing even more and complex scenarios. Sometimes it feels like you can just breeze through without figuring out what to do though, so maybe there are too big holes due to timings of their walks and you can then circumvent certain problems (too) easily. It doesn't feel as satisfying that way, because it feels like chance/random that you made it this time. It's the best when you fail until you figure out exactly the pattern.

Thanks for trying it and leaving feedback!

For the chance/random, were you thinking of the room that has three characters walking? That one was random - not in the mathematical sense but in the game design of it, as each of their routes were independent of each other and had different durations. I'll take the feedback as to be more intentional with the design.

The last room, I was intending to have different ways to solve it. As I worked on it I thought maybe it could be an "easy" way of using all the distractions (there are 3 in there) and a "hard" way of not using any and just do timing. I think the "hard" way ended up being too easy. I might play around with that room more and also be more intentional with routes kind of "syncing" there as well.

Thanks again, this really helped!

I went through the whole thing easily :) This could be quite fun if there is some goal and more stuff.

Thanks! What was your favorite or least favorite part?

Also, FYI, I have finished the last room now!
